Common questions
How Fast We Get to You
Response time is usually the first thing people ask, so here it is plainly.
What happens after I call?
A real person answers, not a call centre. We talk through what is going on, book you in for a time that suits, and turn up with a fixed written quote ready to explain on site before any work starts.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Sparks, burning smells, exposed wiring, a switchboard that has tripped and will not reset, or total loss of power to the property. If the whole street is dark, that is a network outage, not something we can fix from your switchboard in.
How fast can you get here?
Fast response, often same or next day for standard bookings. Genuine emergencies are triaged over the phone with a licensed electrician so we can give you a realistic timeframe when you call.
How do I book?
Call (02) 9134 9026 and we will book you in for a time that suits, or fill in the contact form and we will call you back. Either way, you are talking to the local team, not a booking centre.
Common questions
Pricing and Quotes
Money questions, answered without the jargon.
How do quotes work?
We come out, look at the job, and give you a fixed written price before anything starts. If we uncover something unexpected once we are into the work, we stop, explain it, and re-quote before continuing.
Is the quote really free?
Yes. There is no call-out fee for a quote, and no obligation to book once you have it in hand. You only pay if you decide to go ahead.
What does "$50 off your first service" cover?
New customers get $50 off their first job with us, from a single power point to a full switchboard upgrade. It comes off the number on your written quote.
Do prices change once you start?
No. The price we quote is the price you pay. We do not charge by the hour, and there are no surprises on the invoice once the job is done.
Common questions
Working in and Around Meadowbank
A few questions specific to the local patch.
Do you know Meadowbank's housing stock?
Meadowbank is now almost entirely apartments, built through the Shepherds Bay redevelopment on what used to be industrial land by the river. A handful of post-war houses remain on the higher streets around Hughes Street, and we work both ends of that mix regularly.
Why do Meadowbank's older homes need switchboard upgrades?
The post-war houses left on the higher streets often still run ceramic-fuse switchboards from when they were built, well short of a modern safety switch on every circuit. An upgrade brings the board up to current wiring standards and gives you proper fault protection room by room.
Can you handle new builds and renovations here?
Yes, both. Fresh apartment builds around Shepherds Bay need switchboards and EV charger provisioning sorted from the start. Renovations on the older houses near Anderson Park usually mean a partial or full rewire to bring the wiring up to current standards.
What suburbs do you service?
Meadowbank, plus the surrounding pockets: - West Ryde - Melrose Park - Ryde - Putney - Rhodes If you are just over the boundary, call us and we will confirm we can help.
Common questions
Safety, Standards and Paperwork
The legal and compliance side, made simple.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
It sets the rules for how wiring, switchboards and circuits are designed and installed across Australia and New Zealand. We work to it on every job, no exceptions, from swapping a light switch to rewiring the whole place.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, we are Master Electricians Australia members, and we are fully insured for residential and strata work.
What is a Certificate of Compliance and do I get one?
It is the official record that notifiable electrical work has been tested and lodged with NSW Fair Trading. You get one on completion of any job that requires it, no need to chase us for it.
Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?
No. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW for anything beyond very minor tasks, and it carries a genuine safety and insurance risk. Licensed electricians exist for a reason, and switchboards are not the place to save money.
